With very little fanfare, last month ICE announced that it’ll try to avoid transferring immigration detainees with close family members or an attorney within the jurisdiction of the detaining ICE office. This is great news because ICE has a well-earned reputation of shuffling around detainees, and losing them in the system for a few days. Some–including me–believe it was done on purpose. PBS Frontline recently aired the program “Lost in Detention” about this subject. You may want to view it at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/lost-in-detention/
